Rifugio Graffer
Rifugio Graffer
The extraordinary landscape surrounding the Graffer refuge serves as a horizon where the new building can be seen as a potential observatory towards the vast "geographical room" bounded by the Brenta Dolomites. The current structure of the refuge, with its eclectic architectural features evocative of a "mountain eclectic" style, is characterized by a considerable size in the context in which it is located. This does not enhance its environmental integration, except for the chromatic harmony of the stone, which blends well with the color of the surrounding rocks.
The new intervention, in relation to the existing structure in its forms, aims to define an autonomous and discreet volume that interacts with the existing one, creating a silent, elegant, and proportionate addition. The goal is to achieve an architecture that engages in dialogue with the existing structure while also being in harmony with its character, volumes, and colors.
The proposal is inspired in its definition by the archetype of the alpine hut, retaining its section, but evokes with its elongated shape the ancient sawmills of the Trentino valleys
The choice of materials is tied to the use of wood, a sustainable material that allows for rapid construction
