Jinshan Marina

Jinshan Marina

The project involves the definition of a 7 km coastal area near the town of Jinshan. The city which is located south of Shanghai has developed with a typical quantitative urbanization model and it is crossed by disconnected infrastructures. Against the functional segregation of modernist models, we proposed urban mixity where various functions coexist in the same complex of buildings (commercial, residential, offices, leisure, etc.), using and blending different typologies (courtyard, tower, block) and integrating and separating public spaces where necessary. The station square becomes the first central place, and subsequently, the blocks are articulated as formally and functionally complex elements, oriented to give an urban character to the whole. A large water square becomes the marina and connects the arrival of cruise ships with the station.

The aim is to create a high standard of living, which means inhabiting a city where people feel well and protected in a city tailored to human needs

The proposed development articulates a sequence of public spaces starting from the station, arranging a succession of large blocks
