The book wants to reflect on how instruments in an urban project can operate in a comprehensive framework, from the recovery of outlying districts of the post-war period to African slums, the Brazilian favelas or the new Chinese cities.

Trying to arrange the research conducted during the courses of design at the Politecnico of Milan, field projects, lessons and writings with an intent to verify the methods and strategies applied.
