Pedestrian Walkway and Square

Pedestrian Walkway and Square

The project aimed to complement the existing vehicular bridge with a pedestrian bridge and repurpose the space in front of the parish for more than just traffic purposes. The steel, oak wood, and acid-etched glass pedestrian bridge connect the two banks of the Mella River diagonally, aligning with the entrance axis of the Church. The new granite and serena stone pavement of the square takes on the form of a three-dimensional arrow, linking the existing bridge to the new churchyard. The arrow, lifted from the ground, transforms into an illuminated bench during nighttime hours.

A project crafted without indulging in vernacular actions, yet without necessarily referencing commonplaces of contemporary landscaping
