Building Regionalism: The Borsoni Theatre in Lecce

We are pleased to announce that our studio will participate in the XIII edition of the Architects meet in Lecce exhibition with the project for the Teatro Borsoni, as part of the central theme of the exhibition: Hyperregionalism. This edition of the event, organized by the AIAC (Italian Association of Architecture and Criticism) and chaired by Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi, will be held for the first time in Puglia, in Lecce, from October 24 to 26, 2024.

The exhibition aims to explore the concept of Hyperregionalism, transitioning from soulless architecture, uniform across all places, to the creation of spaces that are rooted in their territory and easily recognizable. Is it possible to consider the local context and cultural traditions while leveraging modern technologies and approaches to create works that critically and innovatively engage with their environment? In this context, Teatro Borsoni serves as a perfect example of architecture that not only integrates into the urban landscape of Brescia but also becomes a reference point for urban regeneration.

Located in an area undergoing urban transformation in the heart of Brescia, Teatro Borsoni embodies a new cultural centrality. Thanks to its iconic architecture, which blends tradition and innovation through the use of rusticated concrete, the theatre redefines the language of civic architecture. It is a space open to the community, designed to host events and performances, while also fostering social interaction and participation.

We are excited to showcase this project at the Architects meet in Lecce exhibition, which will bring together architects and critics from around the world. The event promises to be a platform for discussion and exchange on the challenges and opportunities of contemporary architecture, with a particular focus on sustainability and respect for the local context.
