Architecture in Extreme Habitats: An ARW Masterclass on Climate, Scientific Research and Architectural Innovation
On March 26, 2026, ARW Associates will host a new Architecture Insights Masterclass at its Brescia studio, bringing together researchers, architects and industry professionals to discuss one of the most urgent challenges facing contemporary design: how architecture can respond to extreme environmental conditions and climate change.
Titled “Architecture in Extreme Habitats – Designing Resilience between Scientific Research and Architectural Innovation,” the event will explore how climate research, technological innovation and architectural experimentation can contribute to the development of more resilient built environments.
As climate change increasingly affects territories and cities, architecture is called to rethink materials, construction systems and settlement models capable of adapting to fragile and evolving contexts. The masterclass aims to open a dialogue between different disciplines, connecting scientific knowledge and architectural practice to reflect on new strategies for designing in complex environmental conditions.
The discussion will feature:
Elisa Palazzi, Climatologist
Ornella Iuorio, Associate Professor, Politecnico di Milano
Marco Pompili, General Director, Essepi
The conversation will be moderated by Matteo Facchinelli, co-founder of ARW Associates.
Part of the Architecture Insights series, the event is conceived as a platform for dialogue between architecture, research and industry, hosted each time by a different architecture practice. The Brescia event will also be an opportunity for ARW Associates to share its perspective on the relationship between architecture, territory and environmental resilience.
The masterclass will take place at the ARW Associates studio in Brescia and will conclude with a networking aperitif.
